As part of the complex Stevenage Rail Infrastructure project, Trackwork has recently completed the Permanent Way & Signalling Design, Installation and Commissioning works.
Trackwork formed a key part of the project, supporting the Spencer Group, Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway in building a new platform and turnback siding at Stevenage Station. This new infrastructure allows trains from the Hertford North Line to terminate, and go back towards London without using up capacity on the existing tracks. This will allow more services to run in the future while improving resilience and reliability.
Works carried out by Trackwork included the installation of a 1340m Turnback siding to serve Platform 5, and a FVs 24 Turnout unit utilising a Kirow crane to form a new mainline connection.
Our in house Signalling division TICS Rail Signalling re-signalled the new line and upgraded the existing infrastructure including New Location Cases, Cables, Power Changeovers, New Signals, Points, Tracks, HABD, AWS, TPWS, Panel Changes and alterations to the existing GEC interlocking to accept the new routes and functions over a 3-mile leg.
