Port of Immingham Main Line & Road Improvements

Trackwork were awarded the contract to carry out programme critical track removal / reinstatement during a Christmas blockade.

To allow this complex engineering project to proceed on a busy main line, Trackwork removed the existing track to allow deep embankment excavations to be carried out. Over a three day Christmas period a 4000 tonne off-site constructed bridge was skilfully slid into the excavated void using hydraulic jacks weighing more than five tonnes each. Working closely with the civils contractor, the track and formation was then reinstated on time and to budget.

The scope of works included:

  • Removal of existing track.
  • Renewal of ballast, sleepers & rail.
  • Tamping.
  • Welding, Stressing & Track Monitoring.
  • Supply of all Rail Safety Critical Staff.
  • UTX installations on a separate blockade.
