As part of the A440 Sothern Link Road improvements project, Trackwork were contracted to carry out programme critical track removal and reinstatement during a Bank Holiday.

Early engagement & collaborative planning took place with Alun Griffiths ensuring that following removal of the track, the new 1,500 tonne off-site built bridge could be manoeuvred into place within the critical path time constraints. The track and formation was then reinstated on time and to budget.

The scope of works included:

• Removal of track & ballast to the existing bridge
• Renewal of ballast, sleepers & rail
• Tamping
• Welding, Stressing & Track Monitoring
• S&T disconnections and reconnections
• Supply of all Rail Safety Critical Staff
