In 2015 Trackwork were awarded the contract to carry out the track renewals and modifications associated with the £50m up-grade of the Ilford Stabling Yard.
The depot is to provide additional stabling for up to 12 new trains for Crossrail for the North Eastern section of the network.
The project was particularly challenging due to the fact that the depot had to be kept operational throughout the project coupled with the added difficulties of working alongside multiple contractors all competing for the limited space available on site.
Trackwork’s work comprised the supply and installation of all plain line track, embedded track using the Edilon system, track on columns and track in concrete. The contract also included the supply and installation of a complex switch and crossing layout including:
