In order to reduce the power stations carbon dioxide emissions, Drax Power constructed new biomass storage and handling facility to enable the mixing of wood pellets with coal to produce electricity.

The project required a complete renewal and re-modelling of its rail network whilst at the same time allowing train movements to continue and keep the power station operational.

The contract included the supply and installation of over 6 km of track and 25 no. units of S&C including a scissors crossover. The work was completed during an intensive 28 day partial blockade interfacing with multiple contractors on site.
