Crown Point Depot, Norwich

Trackwork were awarded the contract to supply and install the permanent way & associated infrastructure to the Crown Point Depot.

The Crown Point Depot project comprises of the conversion and extension of the existing facilities to provide servicing, maintenance and stabling for a new fleet of Stadler built Class 745 & 755 trains for Greater Anglia.

The project presented numerous logistical issues as the main element of the works was within the existing Wensum Triangle, an area of land bordered on all sides by Network Rail infrastructure, meaning careful planning and collaborative working with the Principle Contractor and Train Operating Company was essential.

Construction of the facilities had to take place whilst minimising the impact on depot operations.

The scope of works included:

  • Reduce level dig, with excavated material used on site to construct an ‘acoustic’ bund
