Trackwork were awarded the contract to supply and install the permanent way infrastructure at the new train maintenance facility for the Train Modification Unit.
The Transport for London (TfL) Acton Train Modification Unit (TMU) Maintenance Building will provide the required facilities to deliver major packages of repair and upgrade works to the fleet of rolling stock. This is the first TfL project, where composite sleepers & bearers manufactured from 100% recycled material have been installed, providing improvements to the railway infrastructure by reusing materials and reducing landfill.
The scope of works carried out in possession & blockade conditions included:
Manufacture & install 3 no. CV9.25 turnouts to London Underground Standards
Manufacture & install 1no. AV7 Turnout to London Underground Standards
302m track directly installed to Pit Walls on HO Pan Baseplates
302m calibrated track system directly installed to Pit Walls
150m concrete embedded track to bogie storage road
48m of concrete embedded track to apron areas
216m of CEN56 plain line ballasted track on Axion Ecotrax composite sleepers
300m of 3rd & 4th conductor rail
250m Trotred Walkway & Cable Trough system
250m GRP Walkways
